Tomatoes arrived in Europe in the XVI century from Central America, while basil has been used for cooking purposes since ancient times; the combination of these two simple ingredients has found its best interpretation in Italian cuisine, and in particular in the South. Tomato 92%, extra virgin olive oil, onion, pre-pared basil (basil, salt, sunflower oil, 1,6%),sugar, sea salt, garlic.
All ingredients (except sea salt) are from organic farming

Recipe

Cook the pasta (spaghetti, penne or any other you prefer) and add the tomato and basil sauce, sprinkle with Parmesan or Pecorino cheese and serve.

Basil contains a wide range of minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron, zinc and magnesium plus vitamins such as A, B, E, and C. It also contains many essential amino acids like tryptophan, that triggers the production of the “hormone of happiness” known as serotonin. Tomatoes typically ripen during summer, they are refreshing and rehydrating contain good levels of vitamin A, potassium and mineral salts. Another important element contained by tomatoes is lycopene that is extremely useful for preventing cholesterol. Extra virgin olive oil is very rich in phenol anti-oxidants that give the organism a protection against inflammation processes, the aging of cells and also helpful in the prevention of many diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis and tumours
